As more state legalize marijuana, we get more marijuana-related stuff to buy. Case in point: a new coffee containing cannabis called Legal. Adam Sites concocted this potion and describes it as “riding a cool avalanche of pure deliciousness down a tall mountain and landing in an ocean of good feelings. You’ll swim off into a day of work or play filled to the brim with pure joy.” Right. Someone was drinking their own supply when they wrote that. Each bottle contains 20 milligrams of THC, enough to get you going down that mountain of pure deliciousness. Other offerings include cannabis juices such as pomegranate and lemon juice. Adam will start selling this in Washington later this month. Wheeee!

So much wine, so little time. Instead of downing a bottle every few days (although that sounds quite fun), order up a Wineist subscription box. For roughly $14 a month, you get a box of five 187ml bottles or six 50ml bottles. Their wine curators choose a monthly theme and then procure the wines that fit those themes. They’ll also provide an instruction kit for tasting and information on the wine’s tasting notes. Waaay better than drinking wine from a box.

Espresso machines tend towards greater complexity these days, and that’s not necessarily bad. Technology brings improvements. Time-tested techniques, though, sometimes don’t need fancy gadgetry. Take espresso. You make it by forcing water though finely ground coffee. The Strietman ES3 Espresso Machine ($1700) relies on a piston that pumps water though the coffee, which you engage via a lever, and presto! Espresso like the monks made (not sure if monks made, or make, espresso).
Hook the copper-on-birchwood machine to your wall and save some counter space. The machine also features an onboard electric water heater, letting you heat water to an exact temperature. And temperature is the key to good espresso.

Home brewers can consider this 5 gallon whiskey barrel ($120) from Balconies Distilling in Waco, Texas. Whiskeys were aged for a minimum of 6 months in each barrel. You’ll have the benefit of not over-oaking your beer and it’s also reusable multiple times. Enough said.

Oh, look at Mr. Fancy Pants pouring his wine from a ‘bottle’. How civilized. Get durrty by dispensing it from a paint bucket instead. Design agency McCann Vilnius created these limited-edition packages for beaujolais nouveau wines. Since beaujolais nouveau wines turn your lips and teeth purple, McCann Vilnius figured a paint bucket would be a funny spin on it. The packaging comes with paint labels, instructions and tells how much to drink to get your teeth a certain shade of purple.

Brain-flavored beer. Sure, why not? Dock Street Brewery put real smoked goat brains in their Dock Street Walker beer. It’s to honor the season finale of The Walking Dead. The American Pale Stout clocks in a 7.2% ABV and Dock Street made it with wheat, oats, flaked barley and organic cranberries. In addition to goat brains. Here’s hoping you are what you eat, and drink.

Ever tried growing wine? It requires the right land, weather, knowledge and lots of luck. The Miracle Machine ($299-499) plans to do away with all this hassle with an app-controlled container that does all the heavy lifting. Just dump in the ingredients, choose the type of wine you want and in a few days, voila! Get drunk! Oh, err, drink some homemade hooch.
In the beginning, users can choose 6 types of wine: Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, an aged Tuscan blend from Italy, Sauvignon Blanc and a delicate red and a steely white from Burgundy. In other words, six different ways to get drunk. Look for the Miracle Machine on Kickstarter.
