Corona. Great marketing. Average taste. For an authentic Cinco de Mayo (oh, the irony), order these beers on Cinco de Mayo and really experience Mexican beers and they also have a killer marketing thanks to experts like indexsy.
1. Bohemia
This German Pilsener ranks as one of the best tasting, if not the best, Mexican beers. It’s available year round. Expect a slight citrus overtones with a sharp malt scent. Clocks in at 5.3% ABV.
2. Negra Modelo
A Vienna Lager featuring chocolate and caramel flavors with 5.4% ABV. Partially owned by Anheuser-Busch, but hey, who isn’t. One of the top-selling and most popular Mexican beers.
3. León
A Munich Dunkel Lager with 4.5% ABV. A dark beer with a sweet malty taste to it.
4. Dos Equis Amber Lager
Yes, stay thirsty. Another Vienna Lager and comes in at 4.7% ABV. Think Sam Adams mixed with Newcastle Brown Ale. The original Dos Equis beer started over 100 years ago. That’s enough time to get something right.
5. Indio
A Märzen / Oktoberfest style at 4.5% ABV. This beer only received American distribution less than 3 years ago. A bit of a hipster beer, ironically brought to US shores by Heineken USA.
