The new 1199 Panigale is actually 22 lbs lighter than the 1198, and it is capable of 20 horsepower than the older machine. The Superquadro twin-cylinder engine generates 195 horsepower, which should be more than sufficient for even the biggest speed junkie. The Italian manufacturer has even rolled in traction control as standard. Anti-lock brakes, however, are a stand-alone option.

But what’s the 1199’s true claim to fame? It has the first electronically adjustable suspension on any superbike anywhere, not to mention a GPS-based data acquisition system to track your ride. The 1199 base model package costs around $17,995 while the S trim comes in around $22,995, and the top-of-the-line S Tricolore will break the bank at $27,995. But if the 1199 Panigale is good enough for Han Solo, shouldn’t it be good enough for you?
