The Porsche 911 is 50 years old, and from what we’ve gathered, most 50-year-olds enjoy receiving a piece of quality literature for a gift. I know, the word “literature” is scary, conjuring up mental images of page after page of tedious text. Fortunately in this case the Porsche 911 Book: 50th Anniversary Edition ($84) features gobs and gobs of beautiful pictures from famed photographer René Staud. You’ll see the classic models in all their glory over the span of 304 pages. One note: The book weighs the same as a newly hatched infant (8.2 lbs), so there may or may not be some breastfeeding involved.
Tissot Heritage Navigator 160th Anniversary Watch: Ready, Jet Set, Go
Style By on Mar 14, 2013
In January of 1953, an estimated 71% of American TV sets were tuned into I Love Lucy to see her give birth. In other, less gross news from that year, Tissot unveiled its Navigator worldtimer; a watch that oozed class not amniotic fluids. It also told the times of many international cities. Now, to celebrate its 160th anniversary, Tissot is unveiling the Heritage Navigator, a new take on that gem from 60 years ago. The styling of the steel case is quite similar, but a few cities have been changed, with Buenos Aires being subbed out for Chicago and Dakar being replaced by Atlantic. That’s a bummer for those cities, but at least they weren’t subjected to seeing Lucille Ball pop one out. Ick.
Rage Against the Machine XX 20th Anniversary Box Set
Media By on Oct 12, 2012
While I’ve had moments where I was pretty pissed with the dishwasher, no one can hold a candle to Rage Against the Machine. While we may never know the exact machine this hard-charging rock/rap band was vexed at (my money’s on a Maytag dryer), we do know Rage Against the Machine – XX ($136) is a 20th Anniversary Edition Deluxe Boxed Set that contains two CDs, two DVDs, one 12″ vinyl LP, one 40 page booklet and a two-sided poster. The messages of political and social activism, Zack de la Rocha’s fiery vocals, and Tom Morello’s piercing guitar–it’s all here. Your microwave just got put on notice.
Ducati Monster 20th Anniversary M900

20 years after its birth, the Ducati Monster has achieved icon status in the world of motorcycles, and when icons turn 20, icons get respect. (What is this The Godfather over here?) Anyways, the original M900 design is getting the red carpet treatment, and that means bronze-colored frames, chrome-plated finishes, and a vintage 1986 Ducati logo across the tank. Now that’s respect. Me, I got fancy soap for my 20th.

The Swiss Army Knife, the best thing ever created by the “Swiss” other than Swiss Miss instant cocoa, is now 100 years old. L.L. Bean is marking this milestone with a unique limited edition version of the iconic multi-tool, made from reclaimed Swiss walnut, so each knife will look a little different. L.L. Bean’s 100th Anniversary Swiss Army Knife ($59) comes equipped with seven stainless-steel tools with 11 functions. Fingers crossed that “hot chocolate stirring” is one of those functions.
