For better or worse, Mission: Impossible has been ingrained into pop culture. We’ve hummed the theme song ad nauseum, most of the time when sneaking into the kitchen or attempting to steal vital information on government officials. Yes, the movie series has been flawed: the first was confusing, the second was dumb, and third was boring. And yes, I enjoy making sweeping generalizations about the filming/editing/sound work of very talented people. But surprisingly it took the fourth movie for Mission: Impossible to hit its stride: smart but never confusing, with dizzying money shots of the Burj Khalifa and dizzying money shots of Paula Patton’s cleavage. Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to get a hold of Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol ($22).
