Nabi: $199.99 Kid-Friendly Android Tablet Available at Toys R Us

Let’s face it. Our kids know more about electronics and computers than we ever will. And now Toys R Us has created the Nabi, an Android tablet just for kids, priced at $199. What the Nabi lacks in hardware it makes up for in features, offering a 7-inch 800 x 480 capacitive touchscreen, 4GB of storage, and a 533Mhz dual-core ARM Cortex-A9, all packaged with Wi-Fi and a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera. The custom browser offers kid-friendly web surfing, and a butt load of children’s software is pre-loaded, including the math-focused Fooz Kids University (boo) and over 30 art apps in the “Design Studio” (yeah!). And it doesn’t stop there. The Nabi also includes 30 children’s ebooks and a special Nabi App Store will carry over 500 additional software titles just for kids.

The Nabi didn’t forget about mom and dad either. The tablet has a special Mommy Mode, which allows access to an unrestricted Android experience. Toys R Us is taking pre-orders now, and the tablet is expected to ship on December 1st.  And for the really little ones, the dog (or even for the kid in you), Toys R Us will even throw in a stuffed bear or reindeer with your order.
