Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2

Besides hosting a robust selection of vowels in its name, Lenovo also makes some nice tablets; notably the ThinkPad Tablet 2, a 9.8mm-thick Windows 8 Pro device slated for an October launch. Weighing just 1.3 pounds with a 10.1-inch 1366 x 768 display, the Tablet 2 is also expected to deliver a generous 10-hours of battery life. WiFi is standard, with AT&T’s LTE connectivity an option.

ASUS Padfone

Like peanut butter and banana sandwiches, sometimes you just gotta experiment. ASUS brings the Padfone to the masses, combining a smartphone with a tablet. You put your weed in it! No, no you don’t. Quiet, random inner voice.

The Padfone allows your viewing pleasure to be optimized, just dock it into the tablet when you need a bigger screen and seamlessly switch between the two. No more squinting at a tiny screen. Or dock the phone when your battery life is low and run off the tablet’s power. Physically, the phone measures 4.3” and the tablet comes in at a relatively standard 10.1”. We’ll see whether this works out. On the one hand, you have convenience and a better viewing environment. At the same time, you still have to carry two items around with you.
