It’s Hard to Dislike Villains When They Drive Stingrays Like These

Captain America: The Winter Soldier flies into theaters on April 4th. He’ll be ushering in this Black Widow Corvette Stingray when he does. Now, it won’t be Captain America rolling around in this black-on-black mean machine. Instead, it’ll be Scarlett Johansson, as she plays Black Widow in the flick. What’s the over/under for camera shots of the Chevrolet logo? Doesn’t matter. It could be 1000 as long as they include Scarlett.

2015 Chevy Corvette Z06: Fastest. GM Car. Ever.

Cast your eyes to the future, the 2015 Chevy Corvette Z06. A 6.2-liter V8 putting out 625 hp. GM’s fastest car ever. Not a surprise, since Chevy developed it in conjunction with its C7.R race car.

The Z06 comes out a year or so from now, though the C7.R hits Daytona Beach later this month for some races. That’ll give everyone a preview of the power behind this monster.

2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray C7 by Hennessey

The all-new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is gonna be good enough for most people, but not for Hennessey Performance. The gearheads at this tuning house have unveiled a series of upgrade kits for the C7, including a top-end package that will yield a breathtaking 1,000 horsepower. The HPE1000 package ($67,950 on top of the C7’s price) is at the top end, bringing twin superchargers, a stainless-steel exhaust system, air-to-air intercooler, forged aluminum pistons, and more under the hood. You can also pick up other Hennessey goodies like monoblock alloy wheels, Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires, and Brembo brakes with carbon-ceramic rotors. You know; if 1,000 hp isn’t enough.

2014 Corvette Stingray: The Antidote To January

Seeing as it’s mid-January and we just got past the scientifically proven most depressing day of the year, you probably need something to perk you up. Well here it is: the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. Chevy knows it has something special here, hence the dusting off of the Stingray moniker which has only been used twice in the Corvette’s long and storied history. Besides the speed demon looks, the new ‘Vette features a 6.2-liter, direct-injected V-8 engine that creates some 450 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque, leading the in-house experts to speculate that this thing will do 0-60 in under 4 seconds. Factor in better fuel economy and a sweet 8-inch touchscreen and there may actually be a reason to get out of bed in January.

2013 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1

We’re not sure how many people petitioned General Motors to build a faster Corvette, but they’ve responded as if, like, every single American demanded it, including Guam! In fact, GM says the 2013 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 ($112,600) is the fastest production model they’ve ever offered. The supercharged 6.2-liter LS9 hand-assembled engine delivers an ungodly 638 horsepower and a top speed of 205 mph. An available 60th Anniversary package includes an arctic white paint scheme, custom leather-wrapped interior with suede accents, silver blue pearl stripe graphics, and the 60th anniversary logo on the plates and wheel center caps.

2013 Corvette 427 Convertible

It’s hard to believe Mark Hamill – ya know, Luke Skywalker – and the Corvette are both 60-years old! Dang. I’m not sure what Mark’s friends and family did for his B-day (Yoda ice cream cake?), but Chevrolet is using the Force with a special edition 2013 Corvette 427 Convertible. Speed will not be a concern, with the 427-cubic-inch LS7 V8 generating 505 horsepower, making it capable of doing 0-60 mph in 3.8 seconds with a top speed of over 190 mph. The anniversary edition gets the same rear axle as the Z06, along with magnetic ride control, which I’m pretty sure allows the car to hover like Luke’s land speeder did, but don’t quote me on that. GM says the Vette will also feature carbon fiber components, including a raised hood, fenders and floor panels.

Zagato Perana Z-One

You can add another mean machine to your shopping list. The Corvette-powered Zagato Perana Z-One will be available at the end of July. Well, at least preorders have begun. Running close to $120k US, production numbers will be restricted to 999. Besides its slick body, fans have gone gaga over the 442 hp 6.2-liter V8, coupled with the six-speed manual gearbox. Burn some serious rubber as it goes 0 – 100 km/h in less than 4 seconds. No girl can resist serious speed and muscle dressed up in a hot exterior.
