Nike’s new Ultrafly is a trail running shoe that’s all about speed and agility. As a guy who’s more accustomed to the treadmill than the trail, these shoes are making me consider a change of scenery.
The Ultrafly is the result of a partnership between Nike and Vibram. It’s not every day that two titans of the footwear industry come together, and the result is nothing short of impressive. The shoe is packed with features that sound more like they belong in a high-end sports car than a running shoe.
There’s a carbon Flyplate, whatever that is, sandwiched between something called ZoomX foam and a fabric-wrapped midsole. I don’t know about you, but to me, that sounds like something that could give my feet the kind of upgrade Tony Stark would be proud of.
But the real MVP here is the outsole. It’s equipped with Vibram’s Litebase technology, promising a lightweight, agile design with Vibram Traction Lug technology and Vibram MegaGrip compound.
The Nike Ultrafly is set to launch in Europe on July 27 in limited quantities, and will be available for all runners starting in August. So, whether you’re a seasoned trail runner or a couch potato like me who’s looking for an excuse to get off the sofa, you might want to give these a look.
